Biography
Born in 1955, Jacek Maślankiewicz trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Professor Rajmund Ziemski, one of the notable figures of post-war Polish painting. Over a career spanning several decades he has exhibited extensively in Poland and internationally, and his paintings have entered private collections worldwide.
In 2013 he was honoured by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage with the badge of merit Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej (Meritorious for Polish Culture) — a state distinction awarded for outstanding contribution to Polish culture.
Style and technique
Maślankiewicz works primarily in oil on canvas and on board. His painting moves between architecture, landscape, abstraction and figurative composition, often with a fantastical, dreamlike quality. Among his recent series are the Katedra (Cathedral) and Baltica cycles.
